6 best oils for dry skin: Make your skin glow

Do you suffer from dry sensitive skin? Have you tried various skin care products, but still never find the right one for you? I’ve been there, done that. But then I discovered the magic of natural oils! I would like to share with you 6 the best oils for dry skin.

You got me! I’m literally obsessed with facial oils!

Living on the Sydney beach is amazing, but not as great for my skin. Thanks to strong sun lights and salty water my skin suffers from dryness. After 2 years of non-successful attempts with a various range of conventional cosmetics products, I felt desperate.  Then I was lucky enough to spend two months in Bali. When I visited local markets I bought an organic coconut oil to give it a try. I was amazed by the result! It worked perfectly for me so I started to experiment with all types of oils. And I was hooked!

Here are my 6 the most favorite facial oils for dry and sensitive skin:

 Avocado oil

Who doesn’t love avocado, one of our the healthiest fat? But have you know that you can spread avocado not only on the slice of bread but also on your skin? More precisely, avocado oil is extracted from the avocado tree that is native to Central Mexico. It supports skin regenerating and hydrating and makes the skin and hair more supple. It is quite thick and rich in vitamin A and E.  Avocado oil provides perfect protection and aftercare when your skin is exposed to the sun or the wind. There three different types available in the market: bright green (made from fresh pulp), dark green – almost brown (made from dried pulps) and pale yellow (has been refined, obtained from dried pulp). It absorbs easily and doesn’t leave a greasy film.

Evening Primrose oil

This regenerating and softening oil, which is extracted from seeds of the primrose plant, is great for dry, wrinkled or damaged skin. It has yellow to pale green color and is thick and rich in vitamin E.

Jojoba oil

Currently my the most favorite oil, which is extracted from seeds of the jojoba shrub. Interestingly its composition is very close to that of human sebum (the natural oil which our skin produces). It helps to control the production of sebum, regenerate, calm, soften, and protect the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. As a bonus, it contains a natural sunscreen. Jojoba oil has a yellow color and is actually a wax that is liquid at room temperate. It absorbs very easily. This oil is my first choice in hot Australian summer.

Olive oil

We all know that extra virgin olive oil is perfect for our favorite salad, but have you know, that is the perfect treatment for your dry and sensitive skin too?  The olive oil is extracted from the ripe fruit of the olive tree and it contains vitamins A and E. It nourishes and moisturizes the skin. It comes in various shades of light green has an aroma that is more or less pronounced. When using olive oil for skin care, avoid an overly fruity scent.

Tip: Put a few tablespoons of olive oil to the bath water. Your skin will be smooth, soft and glowing.

Sunflower oil

This oil extracted from the seeds of sunflower is perfect for dry and very dry skin. It has softening and nourishing properties. It has a yellow color and a fruity aroma similar to that of sunflower seeds. The sunflower oil absorbs very well and is rich in skin soothing vitamin E.

Sweet almond oil

It has a pale yellow color and a very discreet scent, is rich in vitamins A and E. The sweet almond oil absorbs very quickly without leaving oily appearance.
